3D Design & Additive Fabrication
Students design custom robotics brackets, gears, and sensor housings in CAD and print them on 3D printers.
From Ideas to 3D Prints & Connected Sensors
In 2023, iSpark elevated school maker spaces by integrating 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and additive manufacturing directly into student curriculums. Students learned to translate conceptual sketches into 3D models and fabricate custom mechanical enclosures, gearboxes, and robotics chassis on industrial-grade 3D printers. The curriculum expanded into IoT and connected sensors, while iSpark's engineering team initiated internal R&D on a humanoid teaching assistant under Senior Engineer & Project Manager Prathap R.
Equipped partner CoE labs with desktop 3D printers, teaching students CAD design in Tinkercad and slicing software to fabricate physical robotic components.
Mentored student teams competing in prestigious regional engineering contests, winning top accolades at Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Engineering College.
Launched the Internet of Things (IoT) learning track, showing students how to log environmental sensor telemetry (temperature, humidity, light) to cloud dashboards.
Commenced initial mechanical design, actuator testing, and conversational AI architecture for the flagship iSMART humanoid teaching robot.
Students design custom robotics brackets, gears, and sensor housings in CAD and print them on 3D printers.
iSpark-mentored school students won awards for high-impact innovation at the college project competition.
Students interfaced wireless microcontrollers to transmit real-time sensor measurements over Wi-Fi.
Senior Engineer Prathap R initiated research on a humanoid teaching assistant robot.
